Ultimate cookies

Ultimate cookie dough I came across this cookie recipe awhile back... and let me tell you, these cookies were out of this world when I made them two years ago. It seems like I tweaked something when I made them, and this statement is more from knowing I tend to do that than from a genuine memory of doing so. Either way I don't remember what it was. Based on the picture, though, it looks like I got all the basics. Honey-roasted peanuts, chocolate chips, and Reese Cups. How could you possibly go wrong with ingredients like that?

Given the tendency for things to disappear from the Internet, I wanted to get a copy of this jewel for myself just in case. I don't see Chickens In the Road going away soon, but you never know.

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1½ cups honey-roasted peanuts
  • 1½ cups chopped peanut butter cups (about 30 miniatures)

Beat butter and peanut butter together. Add the brown sugar, sugar, baking soda, and salt, and mix again.

Add eggs, milk, and vanilla, beating again. Stir in flour with a spoon. Add chocolate chips, honey roasted peanuts, and chopped peanut butter cups. This will make a very stiff dough.

Drop dough by spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for about 10 minutes (depending on size of cookies).

The original recipe offered that you could put the peanut butter cups in the freezer for thirty minutes prior to chopping to make it easier and possibly neater. Since then, Reese has come out with Reese Cup Minis (a little bigger than M&Ms) which I think would be perfect for the job.

I'm thinking I should make these while I'm still in the mood to enjoy the holiday. Hell, maybe two or three batches. Speaking of Reese Cups, the white chocolate variety is fantastic, and this is from a long-time chocoholic who would normally consider such things blasphemous.

Eat, drink, and be merry... in January, we diet.
