Martha had a Pampered Chef party at our house this evening. This isn't a first — in fact, her first encounter with alarieloe revolved around one of these things. I kind of like it. Pampered Chef always means neat kitchen gadgets and food cooked by somebody else.
Before you ask, yeah, I know this is the third food entry in a row; and yeah, in fact, I do have a life beyond food. And I'll get to it eventually. Shut up.
So our consultant this evening was Leslie Marion, who was
jovial and enthusiastic and clearly loves her job. I didn't watch the majority
of her presentation, opting instead to hang out with the boy in the living room,
listen to the conversations from afar, and partake of the food when the time for
that came. Leslie brought her laptop loaded with Pampered Chef's proprietary
software and took orders and payments — overall it was about two and a
half hours of work on her part, maybe three, though I'm sure there was some
behind the scenes work which I'm not aware of.
Not a bad deal, really. I see on Pampered Chef's website that they're environmentally conscious and offer a line of bamboo products as well, which is always a plus in my book. From what I saw, Leslie didn't have to push the product too hard — everything basically sold itself. I suspect a lot of money could be made if someone put some serious effort behind it. I'm not that person, but I like seeing the spirit of entrepreneurship is alive and well.
